PeopleNet®
Joins Forces with BOLT®
To Provide Seamless Fleet Management |
| |
| NASHVILLE – April 30, 2006 –
PeopleNet, the leading provider of onboard computing
and mobile communications systems to the nation’s
transportation industry, has teamed with BOLT, an
Internet-based, software management system, to offer
their respective customers a fleet management solution
with seamless tracking of tractors, trailers, containers
and freight. |
| |
| Headquartered in Nashville, BOLT offers
an integrated dispatch solution for fleets with less
than 500 trucks. Utilizing the latest innovative Internet
technology, BOLT pulls together all time-sensitive information
into one easy-to-use system. |
| |
| “We are tremendously excited about
our affiliation with BOLT because it will give our customers
a new route to enhance their competitive advantage through
innovative technology,” says Ron Konezny, chief
operating officer of PeopleNet. “The benefit to
our customers is that they will be able to keep their
costs down and they don’t need any new hardware
or software that needs constant updating or maintenance.” |
| |
| BOLT software is a hosted service - only
an Internet connection is required. That allows carriers
and their customers the ability to manage their freight
and transportation plans centrally but dispatch from
remote locations such as from a distribution center,
other divisions within the organization or even the
home. This Internet-based service provides a number
of key benefits: it greatly reduces infrastructure investments,
easily integrates with other systems and can be implemented
in as little as one day. “Both companies believe
strongly in the power of the Internet, which made the
integration of our products a reality within weeks as
compared to months in other programming environments”,
Konezny stated. |
| |
| |
| BOLT trucking software is fully integrated
and incorporates all functions of dispatch, operations,
asset tracking, accounting, vehicle maintenance, log
checker, and brokerage. The system offers secure online
access to shipment, contract and settlement information
that can be tailored for every user, regardless of location.
All activities are input into a secure database that
is updated in real-time. |
| |
| |
| “Working through the g3 platform,
PeopleNet will provide information on truck availability
and we can then post that unit to help find the best
routing and backhaul information,” says Gayle
Robertson, principal of the Robertson Group and the
developer of BOLT. “At the touch of a button,
you can get fleet (or unit) revenue/cost/profit per
mile, monthly maintenance costs for each truck or the
entire fleet, current status of quarterly fuel tax and
more.” |
| |
| The system manages all back-office functions
providing fleets with optimized routing, shipment and
asset tracking, and enroute refueling locations. BOLT
tracks maintenance and fuel taxes, tire performance,
preventive maintenance and inspection schedules, and
CDL and medical cards expiration dates. |
| |
| BOLT also brings an affiliation with Getloaded.com
(www.getloaded.com),
the leading Internet load board, to provide fleets with
advanced dispatch-driven vectored searches tightly coupled
with wide-area mobile communications – eliminating
out-of-route miles, optimizing driver service hours
and managing “wall clock” time. |
| |
| Headquartered in Minneapolis, PeopleNet
is the fastest-growing provider of Internet-based onboard
computing and mobile communications systems to the transportation
industry, including truckload, LTL, private, and service
fleets. The company serves several Fortune 500 companies
in the U.S. and Canada and has signed more than 1,000
customers since inception over 10 years ago. |
