Multi-Division Operation

BOLT has the capability of handling multiple divisions under the same operating system. The key is for your organization to define who needs what type of access to the various sources of data in your system. These are some of the aspects that need to be considered and mapped carefully according to the needs of your business:

  • Day-to-day operations such as load entry, driver/truck/trailer assignment, load dispatch, freight/truck/trailer tracking, and invoicing including driver settlement can be entered, updated or viewed by one individual, division personnel, or corporate personnel.

  • Access to the various operations as well as WRITE/READ ONLY access is granted by the system manager. For example, one dispatcher might see his/her loads, their division, and possibly the entire company’s loads, but could not see a different division. User access and read/write capabilities are assigned on a need basis. Most operations allow assigned corporate personnel to view the entire company’s operation.

  • Assets (trucks, trailers, etc.) as well as dispatchers and drivers are assigned to a division. Reports such as fuel tax can be rolled up at the division level as well as at the corporate level.

  • Some caution needs to be exercised in accounting. BOLT handles all operations individually but is not a comprehensive accounting system. Information downloads from BOLT need to be kept separate to ensure proper general ledger accountability.

  • The only restriction on multi-division operations is that the various divisions must share a common PRO Number sequential pool. The PRO number is assigned automatically by BOLT as each load is entered.

Information as described above can be viewed from any location at any time. The only limitation will be the access assigned by the system manager.
