Increase Productivity by Aligning
Companies traditionally pay their drivers by the mile, by the hour, or based on
percentage. BOLT is fully equipped to handle all of this, but our system is so
flexible that we started to wonder, “Is there a better way?” The answer we found
is Activity Based Pay – which we have seen lead to an immediate 15-20%
productivity increase for fleets that implement it.
Activity based pay is designed to increase overall value by making the delivery
process more precise. BOLT lets you properly reward tasks like pre- and
post-trip inspections, drive time, fuel time, driver-assisted loading or
unloading, stop time, wait time, etc. Proper incentive-based pay packages will
lead to more work per driver, or less drivers needed to get the work done.
“Drivers work harder when incentivized
properly, with a system that aligns employee performance with company objectives
such as improving delivery times, increasing fuel economy, or promoting safe
Easy Payroll With Clear Driver Statements
Something more about how payroll works, how easy it is to do, need more information. Also, should I be using the term Payroll, or Driver Pay?
You can set up the system to capture each driver activity with corresponding pay structure. That way when payroll is completed, the right amount is tendered, and the driver gets a printout of all activities. These clear and informative printouts give drivers confidence that they are being paid correctly.
“We’re building activity-based pay portals into our management system. We think there is huge upside for both fleets and drivers. We expect a sea-change in how drivers are paid.”

Introducing the Tandem Workflow Mobile App for Drivers
BOLT provides new methods for reducing dead-heading and giving your trucks maximum up-time. We call them hands-free dispatching and load pooling. It lets drivers request loads, based on pre-selected rules, through their On-Board Computers and BOLT’s mobile app – Tandem Workflow. Should a driver have extra time in their schedule, rather than dead heading, they can electronically request new loads that are ready to go, within their “circle of opportunity.” You manage the exceptions, rather than each individual move.
BOLT Tandem Workflow also enables:
- Load pickup and delivery information for your drivers.
- Push-button time stamps, to record time delays.
- Over Short & Damage (OS&D) information on an individual commodity basis.
- Uploading photographs (example: damage, the probable cause of damage).
- Return documentation.
- Proof of delivery signature capture.
- Instant invoicing.
“Drivers are more productive with their time, more loads get delivered – and most importantly for the drivers, they make more money and their job satisfaction increases… The ultimate win-win.”
